Rooby -- Adopted and living in Highland
Racing Name: Shodo N Shoobebo
Age: 8 Sex: F Color: Red fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Rooby is a petite charmer with lady-like manners and style. She rates an A+ in condo living -- no accidents, gets along with her two Greyhound housemates, no drama when foster mom leaves, extremely well behaved and a delight to have around. Roo loves car rides and looks forward to her walks. Squirrels, cats, and small dogs are not a problem. She tolerates street noise, but rock concerts or fireworks are definitely not on her preferred list. She loves car rides and looks forward to visiting her adoring public at the neighborhood coffee shop. She is easily directed and knows the various behavior commands. Roo’s happiest when her person is nearby. Hugs are a high priority! She is self-confident and would probably be a good fit in most homes. However, she would enjoy and thrive in an environment where she is the only dog and her person is nearby to enjoy her love and affection. Rooby came to us with an chronic dry eye condition called Pannus and will need to be given eye drops daily all her life. Other than that she is a very healthy grey girl.
Fran -- Adopted and living in Yorba Linda
Racing Name: RJ's Fabled Fran
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Fran is one of the easiest fosters we've had. She hasn't had a single potty accident in the house. When she needs to go outside, she will cry and go the the back door. We don't have a dog door, but this little girl is so clever that she likely would figure one out very quickly. She couldn't be better with our little dog and is also good with the three greyhounds in her foster pack. She loves our five-year-old granddaughter and is very gentle with her. She loves to be in the kitchen when we're cooking. Fran is perfect in the car--she jumps right in, lays down, rides quietly and doesn't get sick. She is very gentle on a leash. She hasn't shown any interest in playing with toys yet but does seem amused to watch the other dogs play with them. We will miss her goofy helicopter tail and wonderful personality. Fran is sweet, beautiful, happy and in fact she is frantastic!
Mallory -- Adopted and living in La Habra
Racing Name: Koyote Malo
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Mallory is a very good looking, tall, lean boy with a cute personality. He is living with several small dogs and cats and seems to think he is a small dog. He plays well with the little guys and pretty much ignores the cats. He is easy going and lovable and just a big teddy bear who wants to be petted. Mallory is young for retirement and has spurts of energy. His favorite games are scouting for lizards and playing ball or chase with the youngish dog at his foster home. He is a good citizen in the house, which he also shares with several young children. Since Mallory is young and active and has learned to play like a "real dog," he should go to a home that can provide opportunities for play and exercise. The family who adopts Mallory will just love his enthusiasm and eagerness to please.
Treasure -- Adopted and living in Sunland
Racing Name: WW's Treasurer
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: W/Y
Treasure is a small wiggley girl who oozes enthusiasm for everybody and everything. You don't want to be behind her when that tail is in motion.
It took her a while to get used to the cats in her foster home, but she now tolerates them, even when they come to rub against her nose. At the Meet & Greets she is very curious about the small dogs but has never growled at them. On her many car rides to the vet for her broken leg, she settles down nicely. Sometimes her nose comes between the front seats to make sure we are aware she is still there. She would love to play with her foster siblings, but with her broken leg, for now she's content to watch them play and referee the goings on.
Elsie -- Adopted and living in Simi Valley
Racing Name: Grandma Elsie
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Elsie is a sweet and beautiful two-year-old girl. Despite her young age, she is quite refined and mannered. Elsie was a perfect lady from her first day in her foster home, and taught herself how to use the dog door within the first couple of hours. Potty training was a breeze for her, and she has settled into retired life. With her cozy demeanor Elsie has an extremely laid-back personality and loves to be with people. She is affectionate and will cuddle as much as she can. If her forever home were to allow her to snuggle on the sofa or bed, that would be great with her. Elsie is currently living with three other greyhounds and a small Italian Greyhound, and gets along great with all. She loves to shake squeaky toys and take them out into the yard for a toss. Elsie's calm and loving nature make her the perfect companion.
Devka -- Adopted and living in Redlands
Racing Name: Devka
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Devka is a petite and bouncy girl. She is very people oriented and so personable. She wants to be first in line when pets are handed out. She is a champ at the Meet & Greets where she usually wears the donation vest so she can get out there, meet everyone and be the perfect greyhound good will ambassador. She lives with four cats and is curious about them to the point of wanting to play with them, which is not allowed. However, she will break off on her own when the hissing starts, then just ignore them altogether. She does not seem interested in playing with the other two greyhounds in the house or the Dalmatian. She'd rather have her people around. She walks well on a leash and loves to ride in the car. If her Forever Home would let her up on the bed or couch (which we don't do), she would be overcome with happiness. She has a long and somewhat curly tail and knows how to use it to express her happy nature. She is cute, knows it and will be a favorite in the lucky family that adopts her. Though she shows independence from the other dogs she probably would not be as happy as an only dog.
April Ann --Adopted and living in
Racing Name: April Ann
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
April Ann is a polite, darling, relatively small greyhound baby. She is only two years old. She lives with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a whippet and an Italian greyhound. April is eager to please. She walks beautifully on leash, uses the doggie door, and follows all the household rules. She has never had an accident in the house and is surprisingly not a counter surfer. She is content to sleep on the dog bed on the floor while the little dogs lie on the sofa and beds. April loves to have a nice romp around the yard in the morning and evening. She especially loves her bones and stuffies! She is very happy to see children of all ages and is good with other dogs around the park. April is also great in the car. We can only say very positive things about this dog. She is wonderful for any home where she has company during the day.
Count -- Adopted and living in Upland
Racing Name: Count on Serano
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Count settled in very well from the first day. He acknowledges the cats but has a healthy respect for them. He is a very gentle, loveable guy who enjoys having his ears rubbed and snuggling in beside us. Count likes to bring the other dog’s blankets and jammies out into the living room where he can keep an eye on them and occasionally will want to add a sock or shirt of ours to his treasure-trove. He loves attention and was very content to take on the duties at our Meet & Greet, especially when Santa kept supplying him with cookies. Count does love his food! He rides well in the car and has almost figured out how to jump in without assistance.
Free -- Adopted and living in downtown Los Angeles
Racing Name: Kid's Blank Check
Age: 8 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Free is the perfect older greyhound. He has no behavior problems. He just shows love and affection for his people. He loves to play with his plush toys every day. He walks perfectly on a leash; walks are pretty much his favorite activity in the whole world. He likes to nap in the room with his people, but he is not clingy or needy. He is a big boy, but you won’t really notice this since he is so calm and well-behaved. He likes to wag his tail a bit more than the average greyhound, to show his happiness, and he is a smiler when he is very excited. He would easily fit into a variety of homes, including those with small, fluffy dogs, cats or birds. He really likes little dogs more than most greyhounds and is very gentle with them.
Connie -- Adopted and living in Foothill Ranch
Racing Name: Constant Move
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Phoebe -- Adopted and living in Chino Hills
Racing Name: Phiber Optic
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Phoebe is a gorgeous small female. Her white coat is marked with dark brindle spots that resemble hearts, and her dark ears prick up and sweetly frame her face. She is a little shy but very loving and responds to endearments or offers of love. She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home and is just learning how to play with toys. It is so cute to watch her toss the toy in the air and with legs splayed catch and shake it. She likes to be with people and will follow us from room to room. She has learned the dog door and is now house trained. She is still a little wary of the stairs and will run up but only walk slowly down them. When the noise in the house is too much for her she retreats to her crate for a nap. The mirror is still fascinating to her and she watches reflective surfaces intently when she sees her or our other dogs' reflections. She loves dog treats and will nose them curiously before gently taking them. She has captured the family's heart and will capture yours also. She is small dog and cat safe but will join the pack to bark at other dogs or cats outside--although she seems a little puzzled over what the fuss is about.
Josette -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
Racing Name: Time of My Life
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Josette is a beautiful, buff girl with soulful eyes. At first she seems a little shy but she soon warms up to people and is a very friendly dog. She picked out a favorite dog bed right away and likes to lay there and watch the goings-on. Josie lives with five humans, two greyhounds, an old Lab and a Siamese cat, and gets along well with all. She was very curious about the cat at first but doesn’t pay too much attention to him now. Josie is a little cautious of the stairs and hasn’t willingly gone up them but will if she’s on leash. She is very good on walks and doesn’t pull at all. Josie was housetrained the first day and has had no accidents in the house. She will stand at the back door and let us know when she wants to go out. She likes to be in the same room as everyone else a lot of the time but will go off by herself when she needs a break. She is a pretty mellow dog and could probably live as an only dog.
Octavia -- Adopted and living in La Mirada
Racing Name: Up an Octave
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N
Octavia is more of a Tommy Girl than a Roman princess. She is a long, tall, lithe four-year-old athlete with charcoal brown brindle fur, a white sock on each of her paws, a white blaze on her chest, and a matching white tipped tail. She dances and prances when she's excited--whenever you come home, or wake up, or get the leash for a walk--and she has an incredible vertical leap. She is curious, fearless, and interested in everything (especially the reflected dogs in the shiny painted doors of parked cars). She is smart and affectionate, obedient and responsive. She is just now beginning to learn how to play--tossing tennis balls to herself and carrying them back to her bed. She loves chewie bones, but hasn't quite figured out squeekie toys. She lives with two greyhound boys in her foster home and is a good team player. She may also be a good solo dog, particularly for someone who works from home. She is steady with children; she actually she doesn't take much interest in them since she's quite owner focused.
Hanna -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Racing Name: Koyote Hanna
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Hanna is a quiet beauty. She can be a little timid at first, but warms up fast. She can also be a princess at times. She has started to play with toys and loves to incite the resident grey to play with her. Her first day at home she and Cher went on a charity dog walk. They both did very well in spite of the yapping, white, fluffy little dogs. Leash walking is no problem and she settles down nicely in the car. She seems to be fond of children and tried to play with a 5-year-old girl on a home visit. She does very well with the many cats in her foster home. Once in a while she will run after a speeding cat to see what's the hurry. As part of her morning routine, she will come into the bedroom and stick her head under the covers and slowly put her front paws on the bed and start cuddling, kissing and snorting with her foster mom. The foster mom thinks she would do fine as an only dog.
Monica -- Adopted and living in Arcadia
Racing Name: Shaker 'n' a Mover
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Monica is a friendly, loving girl. She was quickly housebroken. She is living with two Italian Greyhounds and is very gentle with them. The foster home’s neighborhood is loaded with cats, which she ignores while on her daily walks. She is a "morning dog" who gets up around 6 am for breakfast and a walk. Monica sleeps in a pile of blankets by the bed, and is not possessive about anything. She's fine when she's left alone. She would probably be fine as an only dog, since she seems to prefer human company over that of dogs. She does get into trash cans, so those should be kept covered. I think the perfect home for her would be a peaceful place where she has soft beds to lay on and where she gets leisurely walks.
Ty -- Adopted and living in Pasadena
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N
Ty is one of the best looking, most lovable greyhounds we have ever met! He has a beautiful red coat with a black muzzle and ears that stand straight up when he is alerted. He settled into life at his foster home quickly, has slept through the night right from the start, and would never ever consider pottying in the house. He a great personality; he loves to play with squeaky toys and also play fetch with a tennis ball. He gets along famously with the other greyhounds and has learned to live with the family’s barking, grouchy beagle. He loves the kitchen--that place where the food comes from. If there is no one in the kitchen, he will go find a soft spot elsewhere in the house. He especially likes to sleep in the sunny spots in the yard and has mastered the dog door that will get him to both the potty and the warm, sunny areas. Ty has learned to sit before he eats and when the leash goes on or off, which is a big deal for a greyhound! His absolutely favorite thing is going for a walk, especially if there are squirrels or cats to spot and stare at. Ty might be OK as an only hound if he had his family around to take him out for walks and keep him company in the evening. Ty does consider himself somewhat of a protector of the house and can do a very convincing bark sequence, especially if he is frightened. For all those good qualities Ty does have one issue that he and his humans have been working on. He is still not sure about those other breeds of dogs he sees while out on his walks. He needs an adopter who will both protect him and keep training him until he has learned how to better read other breeds and be a canine good citizen like most greyhounds.
Taylor -- Adopted and living in Bakersfield
Racing Name: Flying Terminal
Age: 6 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Freckles -- Adopted and living in Glendora
Racing Name: Baby It's Ace
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Freckles is a very affectionate two year old grey. He loves to cuddle with his foster family and just hang out with everyone. He is outgoing and welcomes all people and their pets. He fell in love with a dachshund that he met while he was taking a walk at a local park. His foster family includes a greyhound, a whippet, and three house cats. He has always ignored the cats! Freckles is starting to show interest in stuffed toys and he is learning how to play. Freckles has a very thin coat of hair and he tends to "blush" when he is excited. He walks very well on the leash and travels well in our van. Freckles has learned to use the doggie door to go outside but he is still a little cautious with the stairs. He has never been possessive with his food or anything else that interests him. The cats will peek in his food bowl while he is eating and he has never protested. Freckles is a funny, happy , lovable hound who is easy going and always ready for the next cuddle opportunity.
Ella -- Adopted and living in San Pedro
Racing Name: LA Party Girl
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Ella is a sweet, petite little girl who is curiously cautious about her new world away from the track. Every day she blossoms more as she accepts and responds to the loving humans who ask very little of her. Living with two greyhound sisters and the "old man" cattle dog has not been a problem. All do very well together --Ella loves to run in the yard with them. Long morning walks are her favorite time of the day. She is the first one at the door and has walked very well on leash from day one. New sounds, whether busy street traffic or the vacuum cleaner are of no concern to her. She is easily corrected whenever she locks in on items in the home that warrant closer inspection. One or two "No's" is all it takes. She has had no accidents in the house. She became a real pro with the dog door in two days. Ella has no big interest in toys yet, but was very interested in the strange dog in the mirror at first. She has not met a meal she did not like, but has no food aggression. She exhibits good manners with people of all ages. She does well when left at home all day and should do well as an only dog. She is a real joy to have in our home.
Daytona -- Adopted and living in Chino
Racing Name: TLC Fire Ball
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/?
Daytona came to us to recuperate from a racing spill. But after having him for a few weeks, we think he knew that it was time to be a pet. This is the most loveable, affectionate, independent and vocal dog that we have ever had the pleasure of loving. He had confidence from the beginning. He was willing to look us in the eyes and snuggle just enough to make us want more. It wasn’t long before he was walking every morning with his foster dad. Fives miles is nothing to this guy. But pass a trash truck, or some other perceived “threat” and all legs come to a screeching halt while he assesses the danger. When he is feeling confident again, off he goes as though nothing bothered him at all. Cats, dogs, and squirrels don’t faze him, but recently when he saw a rabbit, he tried to ignite the jet burners to full speed ahead.
He enjoys laying outside in the warm sun, but if you leave him alone for too long this very independent dog will let you know that he has had enough of the “single” life. He does not complain long when left in the house or outside for any length of time. He loves to “talk,” and even at times does so in his sleep. He is funny, not high strung, and seems to do well as an only dog, although he enjoyed the company of a dog house guest recently. Daytona loves to walk and is very social. He is housebroken and even takes his cookies outside to eat. He is a great dog, loves to sleep, loves his ears being rubbed, and his butt scratched. And he is absolutely beautiful.
Casanova -- Adopted and living in West Hills
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/?
Casanova seems to prance on walks and his ears perk up at everything he sees. He has discovered the joys of sleeping on a cushy pad and playing with squeaky toys. He is not shy with people, but can be frightened easily. For example, a hissing cat or barking small dog scares him, and he is very sensitive when told "no." Casanova likes hanging with other greys but could probably be an only dog if he had people who are home a lot. He is anxious to please, will sit on command, is very loving, and will ask for pets by putting his head on your lap. Casanova is a spry, happy little guy with a big heart.
Guinevere -- Adopted and living in Studio City
Racing Name: KMA You Big Goof
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Red Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N
Guinevere loves exploring and getting to experience all that home life has to offer. She cautiously approaches new objects, but nothing detours her; she wants to know all about it, but can be corrected with a "no." Now that she has learned about toys, she loves bringing them to her bed and chomping them for a little bit before going off to add another toy to her treasures. She does a happy dance when we come home, as well as first thing in the morning. She walks well on leash and is calm in the car. Guinevere is an active young dog who likes to play, but also enjoys her naps and sleep time. She learned the dog door on her first try and has never had an accident in the house.
Dodge -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Racing Name: RJ's Dodgeball
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/?
Dodge is a sweet and sensitive boy who is the perfect example of a true velcro dog. He likes to go for walks and rides well in the car. He gets along well with our little dog and has no interest in my daughter's cat. I think he could be an only dog or be a good companion to a cute, little girlie, greyhound. Dodge loves his meal time and is not a picky eater and always cleans his bowl. He has never gotten on the furniture but loves his soft beds. He will want to be your best friend.
Monty -- Adopted and living in Riverside
Racing Name: Word of Mouth
Age: 5 3/4 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: W/N
Monty is a beautiful, big red gentleman. His foster mom calls him Mr. Monty because he has a mature, sophisticated personality, always polite, always obedient, quiet and somewhat reserved. He is very sensitive to his environment and eager to please. He is such a well behaved hound that having him as a foster has been a pleasure. He walks well on lead and loves his walks. He rides well in the car. He barks at the back yard opossums and squirrels and chases after them. He gets along well with his three foster greys, who they seem to like him. He will share his bed with another dog, but prefers to sleep alone. It took Monty a little while to learn to trust his foster family, but now he comes to his foster mom before he settles in for the night, for our one-on-one time and some affection. He will walk right up to her and just stare with those dark brown eyes, staring at her until she gives him his rub down and some affection. Then he goes and gets into his bed for the night. Monty will be a good companion for someone who will be patient and loving as he adjusts to his new Forever Home.
Crystal -- Adopted and living in Glendale
Racing Name: Costar Crystal
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Crystal is a fun-loving, energetic, young greyhound. She loves to go on walks and play with stuffed animals. She runs around the yard with her toy in her mouth and then tosses it in the air and tries to catch it. Then the game starts all over again. She lives with a Rhodesian ridgeback, a whippet, and an Italian greyhound. She learned the first night how to use the doggie door and has never had an accident in the house. After Crystal gets her exercise, she loves to sleep peacefully on the dog bed. She loves all people and children, but she is strong and in her excitement she might unintentionally knock a small child over; so a home with older kids would be best. Crystal would love a home with another dog for her to play with, and lots of people around to pet her!
Rainbow -- Adopted and living in Duarte
Racing Name: Figsiza Rainbow
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Rainbow is sweet-tempered, charming, and a delight to have around. This petite Grey loves retirement and enjoys every minute of the day. She adjusted quickly to condo life and completed housetraining in record time--without a dog door or yard. Her condo behavior is excellent; there's no barking when her foster mom leaves, and she takes direction easily. Rainbow loves her walks, is tolerant of street noise, and ignores barking dogs. Squirrels interest her but do not interfere with her walks. She is an effective Greyhound ambassador, greeting the neighbors with tons of enthusiasm in her lady-like way; everyone loves her. She gets along with her two Greyhound housemates, especially the four year-old male. She is gregarious and thrives on affection. She would probably be a good fit in most homes. Since she is young and active, she would love a home with a yard and people around to give her extra support until she feels secure and acclimates to the home’s routine.
Artie -- Adopted and living in Upland
Racing Name: Bella Airtran
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Artie is a young, large male who settled in easier than any other male we have fostered. The first time he met our cat, he jumped back and screamed like a little girl who was frightened by a bug. He is interested in watching the cats move through the house, and has trotted after them a couple of times, but generally keeps his distance. Our 30-pound pug/cattle dog mix has decided that Artie is his best buddy. He is teaching him how to play tug of war with the toys. Artie does not seek the little one out, but will play when asked. He is okay with our greyhounds but I think people are much more important to him than having another greyhound around. He has been to a couple of Meet & Greets and really enjoys the attention. He hid behind me the first time he saw a child but has decided they are pretty nice when they pet him and give him treats.
Tucker -- Adopted and living in Corona
Racing Name: Tucker Scott
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N
Tucker is a big, beautiful boy who will stand endlessly by your side while being petted. He adores everyone and does very well with children. His passion is peanut butter; he will go to great lengths to get some. He is generally well mannered, but still gets a bit excited when first out the door for walks. But he settles down after a minute or so and stays close after that. All beds are fair game for Tucker. He has no problem laying down next to another dog in his foster home. He loves toys and squeaky balls and can entertain himself quite well playing with the stuffies.
Ursula -- Adopted and living in Van Nuys
Racing Name: Nurse Good Body
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Ursula is a very sweet, gentle, and funny girl. Ursula is talkative and loves to lick your face. Within 24 hours of arriving at her foster home, she discovered squeaky toys. She loves to fling them in the air and collect them in her bed. She has done well figuring out which food is hers and which belongs to her humans. She is also doing fine with our five cats. She gets along great with the two greys she lives with and is discovering how much fun it is to play with them. But she really loves the company of humans. She will follow us from room to room. She may do very well as an only dog as long as her humans are around a lot. She is walking perfectly on the leash and is very easy to train. She has already learned "down, "up," "wait," "go lay down on your bed," "come," and "Tsssss" (for "no" Cesar Millan style). She is very curious and interested in everything.
Jake -- Adopted and living in Simi Valley
Racing Name: MLF Camelot
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Jake is so mellow. He mastered the doggie door on the first day and has never had an accident in the house. Jake is easily corrected with a firm No. He is a little shy about eating, but is very willing to share food and space with our two other dogs. Jake is sensitive and sometimes shy with people, but warms up quickly and gives never-ending hugs and sometimes kisses to his humans. He has started to give tail wags and sometimes a bark when excited. He keeps a close watch over his foster humans and is always in the same room with us. Jake will need to have another dog companion or a full-time human for company. His foster pack includes three cats, a whippet, and our own greyhound. Jake loves to lay outside in the cool grass and watch us work in the yard. Loud noises and power tools do not bother him. Jake also likes to snuggle into his soft bed and watch TV. He is starting to enjoy toys but he is still shy about playing with them. Jake enjoys his early morning walks or slow jogs with his foster pack. He is very graceful and light footed on his leash, never pulling or acting out. He also travels well in our van. Jake participated in his first human 5K race and seemed to actively enjoy it. Jake is a very gentle, sensitive and loving grey. We are so blessed to have him in our home as our first foster.
Adolfo -- Adopted and living in Simi Valley
Racing Name: Baby It's Adolfo
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Adolfo is a big, strong, lovable goofball. Twice a day, he has the energy of a two year old. But most of the time he is content resting on a dog bed that has been fluffed just right. He has learned all the rules of the home. He has never had an accident in the house and he mastered the doggie door in record time. He knows "stay." He has been very watchful of his three grey pals, learning how to squeak toys, walk up and down stairs, and take treats. He has been nose to nose with most of the cats in his foster home and thinks they are a little scary. He has allowed them to walk under him while he eats. He loves to ride in the car; in fact, he seems quite at ease in the back seat on a drive. It doesn’t seem to bother him that his foster moms are at work for at least eight hours a day, because he has his doggie door and his foster pack to keep him busy. He eats well, sleeps well, poops well, and plays well. Adolfo is a laid-back but super friendly grey. He nudges his head in for some pets and makes room for his person to join him on the dog bed. He would fit perfectly into any home where there is company, attention, and love.
Menlo -- Adopted and living in Highland
Racing Name: Flying Menlo
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Menlo is a pretty and playful girl with a great personality. She loves her greyhound sisters but does not need to be with them all the time. She can be somewhat independent and will sleep in other parts of the house when so motivated. She has mastered the outside potty, the dog door, stairs and jumping into the car. She is very well behaved while walking on a leash at the same time very alert and interested in all the sights and sounds. She loves her toys. She is very friendly to humans and fine with other dogs. She may be okay as an only dog if her people are around during parts of the day.
Iowa -- Adopted and living in La Canada
Racing Name: Kiowa Wild Shot
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: White and black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Iowa is a greyhound you just have to meet. To us he has the perfect personality: adventuresome but not a trouble maker, quick to learn and eager to please. He is a greyhound gentleman and when he enters the room he comes right up to you, looks you straight in the eye and waits for pets and strokes. Now that he is getting comfortable with life in a home he likes to go to the stuffed toys basket, take out one at a time, carry it from room to room, and then sleep on it a while. He is content to sleep in different parts of the house and not overly concerned to be near the dogs in his foster home. He walks beautifully on a leash either with the dogs or by himself. His foster parents sometimes walk him along a busy street and none of the traffic noises bother him. Iowa will make his forever home family very happy with his gentle nature and easy going demeanor.
Gloriann -- Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Racing Name: S. Gloriann
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Most everyone who comes into contact with Gloriann has an instant smile on his or her face. Gloriann is especially good with children; she is very gentle with them and loves to be touched. She is smart, very sweet, friendly, and loves all people and animals. She loves to go anywhere anytime; she will ride happily in a car or truck. She is housebroken. Gloriann loves her beds and likes to be covered with a blanket in her bed at night. She doesn't bark. She loves to take walks and is very good on a leash. She lives with a very tiny dog that considers herself the alpha and Gloriann, to her credit, handles the situation with much grace. She is a real doll and would do just fine living with other small dogs.
Fifer -- Adopted and living in Rancho Cucamonga
Racing Name: Fight for Right
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/W
Fifer is a beautiful girl who is fitting in nicely with our two greys, our old lab, and another foster girl. Fifer is great on the leash and hasn’t had any accidents in the house. She follows any of the other dogs when they go outside or to the front door to see who is coming and going. Fifer generally sleeps close to the other dogs but will sometimes go up to the stair landing by herself to take a nap. She has no problem with the stairs or tile floors. She gets a little frightened of sudden noises but is quickly calmed. She has met Kato the cat and was very curious about him. They both sniffed each other for quite some time and she showed no aggression, just curiosity. Kato even rubbed his face against her muzzle! She is always watching her humans and follows her foster mom everywhere, especially if she thinks she is going for a walk. Given her shy and quiet nature, we don’t think she should be an only dog as she is more of a follower than a leader.
Odette -- Adopted and living in Pasadena
Racing Name: Oh Daddy
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Odette is a very pretty brindle girl. She has an attractive balance of confidence and gentleness. She fit in very well with the people and dogs in her foster home from day one. She has not had an accident in the house and has learned the other rules of the home quickly. She is by nature confident, calm, and easy going with a medium to low energy level but loves to play with the other dogs and with toys. She readily seeks out affection from her people. One way she does this is by sticking her head (then her neck, then her body) between our legs. Because of her confidence she gets along great with all strangers, both adults and kids. She walks on leash very well. She has a great appetite and will eat most anything she is given, which will make her easy to train. She is probably confident enough to be an only dog in the right home.
Rico -- Adopted and living in South Pasadena
Racing Name: Rico's Burbank
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: White and red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Rico is an attractive, energetic, fun-loving boy. He has an outgoing personality and curiosity that knows no bounds. Like most youngsters, Rico thinks nothing could be better than a dip in the cool water of the wading pool on a warm summer day. He just lies there with his head on the side and watches the clouds drift by. After a leisurely soak, Rico bounces out of the water for a quick game of tug of war with the towel. Everything is a game, whether it's tossing toys, playing peek-a-boo with the handsome hound in the mirror, or running laps in the yard with the other two greyhounds in the family. However he is very respectful of the two cats who live here. Rico does well at the Meet & Greets, wagging his tail and smiling at the passing crowd. His striking good looks definitely draw attention to this charming fellow.
Redwood -- Adopted and living in Placentia
Age: 5 Sex: M Color: Dark red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Redwood is the type of greyhound that previous greyhound adopters or foster homes would want because he is so mellow and easy. He acts like he has lived in a home for years. He gets along with all other dogs, small or large. He is affectionate with little kids—he doesn’t overwhelm them with exuberance, just gives them a gentle nuzzle. He came off the track pretty skinny and is enjoying the foster mom’s attempts to put weight on him, eating all of it gleefully. Red walks perfectly on a leash and potty trained quickly. He has tested cat friendly, but doesn’t currently live with them. He wasn’t interested in the chickens at the foster home. He is happy to lie on a dog bed in the computer room while foster mom works. He does not seem to need other dogs as much as some other dogs and could possibly be an only dog.
Dream -- Adopted and living in Yucca Valley
Racing Name: Kassim the Dream
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/?
Dream is such a sweet dog, he is an absolute joy to have in our home. He learned the potty routine in record time and has had no accidents in the house. He gets along famously with all of our hounds and our rat terrier, and has been very gentle and loving with our five-year-old granddaughter. He is good on leash, rides quietly in the car and doesn't get car sick. There has been no sign of food, toy or space aggression or any form of separation anxiety with him. I almost forgot to mention that he loves to give kisses. Like I said, he is a joy to live with.
Misty -- Adopted and living in Chino
Racing Name: All Aflutter
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Misty is a real love who does not ask much: she's content spending nearly all of her time on any stuffed bed she finds. It took her two weeks to discover squeaky toys. Misty has a built in alarm clock; she heads for the toy basket when the sun comes up to make her morning selection: "Which toy should I use to wake up my humans?" Misty is not an alpha dog and gets along well with her grey sister and the old man, a 16-year-old blind cattle dog. He bumps off of her all the time and she seems to understand, never getting upset. All obstacles of life as a pet in the home have been overcome. She is a real pro with the dog door and has never had an accident in the house. As far as training, just a "NO" once or twice is about all it takes. She loves her walks and gets in and out of the car on her own. Street noise is no problem: she walk well on leash, paying no attention to other dogs or moving things. She would do best in a home with another dog and humans to spend the day. But beware: when the humans return home from work she is so happy to great them her tail becomes a lethal weapon. GreySave found Misty in the Baldwin Hills animal shelter. She has had several litters since she someone took her off the Tijuana track two years ago. Misty also has an unhealed broken left rear leg that will be repaired as soon as she recovers from her spay surgery. Misty knows she does not need to worry anymore and she has told her foster parents that they are her Forever Home.
Argos -- Adopted and living in Hollywood
Racing Name: TV Hoopsterdally
Age: 9 3/4 Sex: M Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Argos is a very good looking, easy going, and elegant older greyhound gent. He is often so quiet that you don’t know for sure if he is sleeping right near you or has slipped into another room to rest in a cozy spot. He has a very calm and regal manner and a very gentle, almost retiring personality. Argos lived most of his retired life with his big buddy Rebel and probably does miss him but is fitting in nicely with his new foster family. Argos has a bit of a limp from an old leg injury but gets around fine and enjoys walking if you are going the way he wants to go (he has a good set of brakes). Argos is pretty thin right now and is still trying to let his foster mom know exactly what it is he wants to eat. At this point it is still hard to tell if he would by OK as an only dog or would be happier with another dog, maybe a sweet girl that would get him up and moving.
Rocky -- Adopted and living in Orange
Racing Name: BL Flashy Rocky
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N
Rocky is a big, happy, fun-loving boy. When he plays with a toy, he looks a little like a pro basketball player making a hook shot with a nice spin move and all feet off the ground. He loves anyone who will pet or cuddle him. Although he shouldn’t live with small animals and sometimes has to be reminded that he’s no longer top dog on the track, Rocky has fit into the pack at his foster home just fine. He could also probably be an only dog if he had lots of people contact.
Cindy-- Adopted and living in Sunland
Racing Name: Sweet Cindy
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Cindy is a very beautiful, red girl who came off the track with a nasty, old, and uncared for broken leg. During the first weeks in her foster home she was very quiet and just watched all the activity from the comfort of her crate. But now that she is feeling better she wants to get out and meet everyone. Since she is still on medical hold, her activities are limited to meeting people at the orthopedic vets, at Meet & Greets, and maybe a little sun bathing and toy tossing when she gets out and about. She is now living with her greyhound friend Marv who is sporting a matching splint. She and Marv like being together and love their car rides to the vet each week, since it means meeting new people who will pet them and tell them how good looking they are. Cindy recently moved to a foster home with cats so she is learning how to live with cats, which she thinks is better than watching television.
Marv -- Adopted and living in Wood Ranch
Racing Name: Kiowa Mimi Marv
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Marv came to us with a rear leg broken just the day before. He has had surgery and is doing quite well. So far he has been quiet and calm for a youngster. He is just now starting to play with squeaky toys rather than the socks and slippers that he preferred when he first came to his foster home. He lives with four cats, a Dalmatian and two other greys and gets along great with everyone. He first wanted to play with the cats, but when the backs went up and the hissing started, he decided that this is not a good idea. He rides well in the car and is okay on leash. He will get more leash training when he recovers enough to go for walks.
Hollywood -- Adopted and living in Fontana
Racing Name: Rico's Wax Museum
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: White and red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Hollywood is a tall female with expressive amber eyes. She likes to lay her head in your lap. If you bend down to her, she will often reward you with a little kiss. She learned the dog door quickly and has never had an accident in the house. She does great with mirrors and stairs. She is a sweet and playful girl who loves to play with her toys. She also likes to play with the hounds in her foster home. She will follow you from room to room to see what you are up to and then settle down to nap wherever you are. She is cat safe and small dog tolerant. She gets along well with other animals, but has the confidence to be an only dog.
Baci -- Adopted and living in Whittier
Racing Name: Phantom Baci
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: White and red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Otto -- Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Racing Name: Automatic
Age: 4 3/4 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
It’s hard to imagine a dog more adaptable and agreeable than Otto. He's happy to see any new person, dog, or fluffy friend. He loves squeaky toys but is ready to relinquish them at the drop of a hat to anyone wanting them. He grows more playful and attentive by the day. He walks perfectly on a leash and greets dog or person like he's a perfect gentleman just back from finishing school. His two foster home greyhound friends, who normally just tolerate the temporary hounds, will miss Otto when he goes to a permanent home. When something gets his attention or curiosity his ears go straight up and his face lights up with a big gaze and intense eye contact. He is a looker and has a great disposition.
Prism -- Adopted and living in Rancho Cucamonga
Racing Name: Pryoprism
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Prism is a very happy dog, full of joy and enthusiasm. The first couple of days he was quiet and I thought perhaps he was older than his two years, but on the third morning, I woke to a young dog leaping and running in the backyard. What a delight! Each day that has passed has been fun for all of us. He met his first dog while out walking--a wonderful golden lab that was just as sweet as could be to this newbie. The next dog was a Shepherd mix and when he went home, Prism turned right up the walk way to go with him! Prism has and continues to explore everything, the yard, the counters, guests, etc. Four days after arriving, our 7- and 9-year-old granddaughters came for a visit. The girls love Prism and Prism loved them. The day after they left, he was searching for them. Prism will do well with children and other dogs. He periodically walks five miles with his foster dad. He is very sweet, loves being in the middle of the pack, and if left outside too long, he will let you know. He plays with his squeaky toy, but prefers his humans.
Coco -- Adopted and living in West L.A.
Racing Name: Cho Chang
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Red fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Coco is a petite, beautiful and very sweet fawn girl. After 168 races, she is loving retirement. From the first day in her foster home, Coco has exhibited amazing manners. She picked up her potty training in the first few hours, is a perfect lady on the leash, and gets along beautifully with her foster siblings. Coco is currently living with three other greyhounds as well as a small Italian Greyhound. Coco loves being part of the group and would definitely do best with another dog buddy in her forever home. She also loves to be where the people are. She sticks by her foster parents' sides and soaks up all the hugs and kisses she can. Coco is a kind, gentle, loving soul who will make the perfect addition for her new family.
Tina -- Adopted and living in Venice
Racing Name: Twisted T
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Tina seems to be an unassuming dog, but when she wants to play, watch out! She lives with three small dogs and two cats, and everyone gets along fine. The newest dog is a doxy/cocker puppy and Tina plays with the puppy until both are exhausted. She also likes squeaky toys. Tina loves equally the three young children in the home. She lets you know when she needs to go out. She settles down in the car and walks nicely on the leash. She seems to be a bit timid about noises when off leash, but once on leash she is fine. The foster home is working on her confidence. She might make something of a watch dog since she is very aware of the comings and goings to the house and in the neighborhood. She does not bark a lot. She is still a bit possessive of her food; so long as someone makes sure that other animals in the household don't get in her dish, she is fine. She is a sweet dog that will get along in a busy household and might be okay as an only dog.
Silvia -- Adopted and living in Trabuco Canyon
Racing Name: Powerslave
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Silvia is a happy, playful greyhound! She was a little shy at first but how she has come around! She observes the other dogs in our house and follows their lead. She lives with a Rodesian Ridgeback, a whippet and an Italian greyhound. She learned the doggie door the first night and has never had an accident. Silvia has very polite manners. She loves the car and walks nicely on the leash. She considered counter surfing and trying to eat our dinner off the table, but was easily corrected. Silvia LOVES all the children in the house for the summer. She greets every morning as an opportunity to give 100 percent love and joy to her people and new dog friends.
Mindy -- Adopted and living in Alta Loma
Racing Name: My Mind is Empty
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: White with red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Mindy is a quiet girl with a big smile, especially first thing in the morning. She is very fond of people, including children, and wants to be around them whenever possible. She loves sleeping on her pillow or on a comfy patch of carpet. When she is really comfortable, she will roll on her back in hopes of getting a tummy or neck rub, waving her paw at anyone passing by as an invitation. She loves going on walks and seeing all the exciting things around her she has never seen. She has done well climbing up the long stairs in the foster home but is a bit unsure about the trip down. She has yet to decide if squeaky toys are interesting. She is on the lower energy side of the greyhound spectrum. She probably would do best in a home where her people are around quite a bit, or where they have a dog door so she can come and go as she pleases and sleep on the grass under a shady tree.
Pressman-- Adopted and living in Sahuarita, AZ
Racing Name: Pressman
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: White with black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Pressman is a love. He has quickly become just one of the pack. He has yet to squeak a toy, but we know he's excited when that long tail wags. He has learned all of the tools of the retired greyhound: cockroaching, sleeping, purring for ear rubs, going potty outside, and treat eating. He is welcomed by the three greys in his new pack and his four cat friends who watch over him as he eats. He has been the star of meet and greets, approaching dogs and people both old and young expecting to be petted. He loves his walks, especially when one of his siblings is with him. Pressman would do best in a home with other dogs and is a little low on the energy scale. He is a classic big boy grey who is going to settle well into the retired life.
Reese -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Racing Name: Crystal Reeses
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Reese has big feet, a big heart, and a healthy appetite. He's a sweet, loving boy who is learning to be a pet with the help of the two greyhounds and two cats that live with him. He is confident, curious, and eager to learn new things such as jumping into the car, using the doggy door, and climbing stairs. He loves long walks in the park, squeaky toys, and soft beds. Reese found a tennis ball on a walk and proudly carried it all the way home like a prized possession. At the Meet & Greets, Reese loved the attention lavished on him by adults and children.
Sadie -- Adopted and living in Rialto
Racing Name: Said and Done
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Sadie is a very petite, shy little girl. She was house trained by the first day and hasn’t had any accidents. She rides nicely in the car and settles down quickly. Sadie lives with two greyhounds, an old Lab, and a Siamese cat. She sniffed at the cat but wasn’t interested at all. She loves hanging with the greys and follows them everywhere. She is a little nervous around other dogs who aren’t greyhounds, so we take her to Meet and Greets to meet other dogs. She really enjoys her daily walks and is excellent on a leash. It took about five seconds for her to figure out the stairs. Sadie is a little on the timid side, and the first few days would hardly lift up her head. In her second week with us she came out of her shell and began loving attention. She is discovering toys, but the squeak sound scares her. She does like to carry toys around. Sadie prefers being in the same room with any of her five human friends, and would be happier in a home where someone is home a lot of the time. She would do best in her forever home with at least one other dog and where she could get lots of love so she’ll feel safe.
Aston -- Adopted and living in Azusa
Age: 6 Sex: M Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N
Aston is a beautiful full-coated greyhound with white accents, including a blaze on the back of his neck and on the tip of his very long tail. He lost his first home and is now waiting for his final one. He favors his hind leg a bit, but it doesn’t slow him down: in fact he's faster than his two foster brothers. He gets along well with the greyhounds in his foster home and the medium-sized dogs he meets, but he will whine and get excited when he sees small animals. A calm and assertive mom or dad can get him to settle down. Aston is very happy to have children around; he’s friendly and confident when youngsters at Meet & Greets come up to him. He’s also one of the most ticklish dogs we've seen: gentle scratches along his back result in crazy gyrations. He is looking forward to finding a forever home that will give him lots of love, back scratches, good food, and a soft bed.
Aston is a good citizen out in public, including walking well on the leash, and is very well behaved at home. He is the perfect "ready-to-roll-up-on-the-couch" hound, easy to be around, and has that greyhound "go with the flow" attitude. He should not live with small animals. He does need a human companion who will be in charge so he can rest assured that he will be well taken care of and never lose his home again.
Madison -- Adopted and living in Elk Grove
Racing Name: BW's Madison
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Madison is a petite little lady with unique markings. A black face, muzzle, and ears complement the white blaze on her chest, as well as four white toes. She has good manners and is easily correctable. When it's time to walk the pack, she wants to be the first one out the door. She walks well on leash, and loud traffic noise does not bother her. She has mastered the obstacles of the home. She will wait to go out with no accidents. When it's time for a car ride she jumps in and lays right down. She comes when called and will stand still forever if being brushed, petted, or scratched. The more toys that make noise the better--she loves to collect them. She is not a dominant dog in her pack. A quiet home without young children would be best, since she is still timid. Her forever parents will need to be understanding and patient while she comes out of her shell. She is progressing nicely and could be an only dog if her humans would be with her most of the time. She is OK if left alone all day as long as she has another four-legged brother or sister. She loves to run in the yard, but would make a very good apartment or condo dog if she would get daily walks.
Chaska -- Adopted and living in Burbank
Racing Name: Chaska Bankroll
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: White and red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Chaska is a very happy boy. He is probably the easiest, happiest, and most care-free dog his foster mom has ever had. Chaska is friendly with everyone; he loves to be with people and he is very happy with his foster brothers and sister. He likes to walk between your legs and if he gets stuck, it is up to you to get him unstuck. He loves to ride on the scooter that his foster mom has to use to walk the other greys. He will walk right up on the scooter and wait for his mom to sit down so she can get his bottom on her lap. He is quite the sight tooling around town. He loves to play with toys and nothing is better after dinner than a good "chewy." Chaska has never had an accident in the house. He will wake up his foster mom if he has to go potty during the night.
Chinook -- Adopted and living in Corona
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Chinook is a big, silly boy. He is still somewhat puppyish at 2 1/2 years old. He is an early riser with a burst of energy first thing in the morning. He starts tossing anything he can get his mouth on, whether it's shoes, clothes or toys. He has never destroyed anything, but he does like to shred newspapers. He is also a talker with an "ooh, wah, wah, wah" and you can't help but laugh with him. Chinook has lived with cats and gots along well with them. He is doing great learning to walk nicely on the leash. He rides well in the car and has mastered the dog door. He would not do well in an apartment or condo, and probably needs another dog or a person usually home to play with.
Cache -- Adopted and living in West Los Angeles
Racing Name: Kiowa Cache City
Age: 5 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Cache is tall, elegant boy that loves all that retirement has to offer, such as squeaky toys and walks, and his wagging tale is proof. Even while lying in his fluffy pillows, his tale keeps wagging. He has a burst of energy in the morning, playing with his toys, but then lies around the rest of the day. Cache responds well to direction. He should make a great companion: he walks well on a leash, learns quickly, enjoys his car rides and jumps easily into the back of the car. Also, he has no problems with hardwood floors, stairs, and has never had an accident in the house. Cache really enjoys hanging out with the other house greyhound, so would probably do best with someone who is home a lot or with another dog.
Trinidad -- Adopted and living in Burbank
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Fawn brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Trinidad is a large, calm, curious, and affectionate male. With his sweet floppy ears, he will win your heart. He has adapted well to the family, but likes to have doors held open for him rather than use the doggy door. He has spent long hours with our other two greyhounds, but has also shown an ability to be by himself--he is very confident. Trinidad loves to be with people and will lie quietly on his dog bed watching you or sleeping. Trinidad will make a calm, quiet, loving companion.
Can Can -- Adopted and living in Chino
Racing Name: Rj's Ketchikan
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/?
Can Can is an adorable girl with an outgoing personality. She will respond to "kiss kiss" by slurping your face. She knows how to use a dog door and is pretty good when left alone. She is still exploring new things in the house but would rather chew a big bone or play with toys than be destructive. Can Can loves to cuddle and would sleep on the bed if we let her. Walks and car rides to the park are at the top of her list, along with playing in the yard with other dogs. She would make a great Meet & Greet dog!
Cher -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
Racing Name: PDH Big Chief
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Cher is a sweet little girl who raced a long time. On her first day in a foster home, she and Hanna went on a charity dog walk and she was a perfect angel. She is very quiet and sometimes needs encouragement to go outside for a potty break or a ride in the car. The foster mom is working on this issue and she is doing better. She lives with two Chihuahua mixes and two cats, and has no problems with any of them. She walks well on a leash and settles down on a car ride. There are three children in the home and when the alarm goes off in the morning, Cher thinks it is her job to wake them up for school. She likes to be near her humans but is also somewhat independent, so may be OK as an only dog—but only if her humans are around a bit during the day and take her on nice walks.
Spenser -- Adopted and living in Van Nuys
Racing Name: CB's Spenser
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: White and black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N
Spenser is totally a sweetheart. He is mildly submissive and genuinely gentle. He gets along very well with other dogs and can be left un-crated with all our greys when we're away from home. He doesn't bother anything when we're gone and has no potty accidents in the house. He always greets us with the biggest greyhound smile when we get home. He just gets better every day! Someone will be very lucky to get such a happy and beautiful greyhound.
Cat -- Adopted and living in Claremont
Racing Name: Gotham's Catwoman
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Cat loves affection; if you scratch her neck and chest she almost purrs. She is friendly and loves to greet people. She is a happy girl with a "helicopter tail." Cat is a smart girl; she learned the dog door and house breaking on the first day home. She has wonderful leash manners and loves exploring and checking out all the new sight and sounds of the retired life. Stuffed toys are one of her favorite new experiences. She loves to grab one, run to her bed, chomp it a few times, then go find a new one, which she then takes outside or back to her bed to do it all over again. She lives with two greyhounds.
Sweetboy -- Adopted and living in Northridge
Racing Name: Big D's Sweetboy
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y
Sweet Boy lives up to his name. He is mild mannered and polite. He lives with 2 cats and 3 small dogs, and when a puppy came into the home there were no problems. There are also 3 children in the home and he is good with them. In fact he gets along well with everyone he meets. He travels well in the car and is excellent on the leash while walking. He is also housebroken and would do well in any home, possibly as an only dog.
