KileyKiley -- Adopted and living in Twin Peaks
Racing Name:
HL's Kiley
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: Brindle with white
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Kiley has tons of personality and is full of energy. She loves to cuddle and get close to your face for a kiss or two. Kiley hasn't met anyone she doesn't like. Even kids are an attraction. No need to worry that she'll be a picky eater--dinner time is a highlight for her. She'll sit at your feet while you prepare her food. If you need a companion to take on trips, Kiley's the one. But she quiets down in the car in five minutes. She plays with our other greys and is starting to learn about toys.

RebelRebel -- Adopted and living in Santa Ana
Racing Name:
Bella BW Rebel
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Rebel is big, bold, and beautiful - a combination of brawn, good looks, and playfulness. He tipped the vet's scale at 105 pounds. Now that is one big greyhound! His racing weight was 95 pounds. Rebel is a master thief who will steal your heart and raid your refrigerator if you're not watching. Yes, he can open the door and help himself to a snack. This sweetheart currently lives with two other greyhounds and two cats. He walks well on the leash, loves riding in the car, and uses the doggy door when necessary. At a recent Meet & Greet, he wowed the crowd with his enormous size and gentle demeanor. Rebel would probably do best in a home with other dogs to keep him company.

ThunderThunder -- Adopted and living in Irvine
Racing Name:
TNJ Thunder
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Thunder is a big, goofy boy who loves everyone. He likes to snuggle and adores tennis balls. He loves toys, too--he tosses them with abandon. He knows how to use the dog door. He is very helpful around the house--especially good at cleaning up spills in the kitchen, taste testing food, and making sure the dishes are clean enough to put in the dishwasher. He does have a bit of a bed/space issue. He will growl and lift his head if another dog gets too close, but never escalates beyond that. We are working on helping him learn how to accept them. He plays well with others and does this cute four feet off the floor leap when very excited. He does not jump up on people.

ThunderThunder -- Adopted and living in Burbank
Racing Name:
PBO Lectro Power
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Thunder is an attractive, energetic boy. He loves retirement and greets each day totally committed to enjoying every minute. He quickly caught on to condo life and completed housetraining in record time.  He LOVES his walks and is tolerant of street noise, barking dogs, etc. He has discovered the joys of playtime with squeaky toys, wagging his curly-cue tail with great delight. He gets along with his two greyhound housemates, especially the four year-old male; he likes to walk beside him on walks. He loves affection and is happiest when his people are near. Since Thunder is a young, high-energy boy, he probably would do best in an active household with a yard and where he's around people most of the time.

StevenSteven -- Adopted and living in Victorville
Racing Name:
Mulberry Danny
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Stephen is a big, beautiful boy, with big feet for a greyhound, a big happy heart, and big, floppy ears. As far as personality and character go, his foster mom gives him an A+. He is sweet, gentle, polite, affectionate, sensitive to his environment, eager to please, barks only in play and when he is talking to you. Yes, Steven does like to talk to his humans. He gets along great with the greyhounds in his foster home, has not had a potty accident in the house, and rides well in the car. He does pull a bit on his walks. Overall he is a wonderful hound. He does cry when his foster mom leaves the house, but only for about 30 seconds. He likes to toss around his toys. His activity level is in the medium range. Steven may do well as an only dog if he is not left alone for long periods of time. He is a wonderful boy and whoever adopts him is getting a very special greyhound.

AnnieAnnie Warbucks -- Adopted and living in Chino Hills
Racing Name:
N/A
Age: 3 Sex: F Color: Red brindle and white
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/W

StormyStormy -- Adopted and living in Upland
Racing Name:
Flying Brinkley
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Stormy is a fun-loving, petite darling. She loves her squeaky toys and gives kisses when asked. Her broken leg is almost healed. She likes to stomp it impatiently if we're too slow handing out the treats or putting down her food bowl. She is well mannered, walks well on the leash, and loves to ride in the car. She is a quick study; she learned the doggie door immediately and remembers where the treats are hidden if we move them to different places. She is a bit independent and might make a good only dog. If very excited, she will mouth your hand to try and get a quicker response to her need for a pet or hug.

BlizzardBlizzard -- Adopted and living in Colton
Racing Name:
Ww Alan's Bits
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: White and black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/W

Blizzard is a darling boy with a goofy puppy persona. He learned very quickly that outside is the place to go potty and goes to the back door when he needs to be let out to do his business. He likes to ride in the car and loves going on walks. He gets along very well with all of our greyhounds and our rat terrier. I think he could be happy as an only dog or be happy as a member of a pack of hounds. He loves playing with toys and will even play "fetch the stuffy" when we're outside. He's a very big boy, at just under 30 inches tall, and also has a long body and large feet. Because of his size and youth, he can be clumsy at times. He has been a joy to live with and it's been fun watching him adapt to life as a retired racer. His foster mom will miss the way he stands behind her with his head pressed into the back of her legs while she's working in the kitchen.

FancyFancy -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
Racing Name:
Fancy Fandango
Age: 6 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N

Fancy is a very sweet, tiny girl who will touch your heart. Even after the other dogs go in, Fancy enjoys being outside andexploring the yard or stretching out to enjoy the nice day. Fancy does not seem to mind when her humans leave for a while, but she does have the company of two other dogs. She gets very excited when we come home, and wiggles all over. She will follow us around until she gets her fill of attention and then go lie down. She is a very secure dog.

TsunamiTsunami -- Adopted and living in Hollywood
Racing Name:
Dok Aces Over
Age: 1 1/2 Sex: F Color: Dark fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Tsunami is a young girl with incredibly unique marking. She sports a beautiful widows peak on her face and a black tail. Maybe because she is only 18 months old and never raced, she can get a 5-minute burst of energy randomly during the day. Also, as a young dog she is not all that secure when left alone. However, as far as young greyhounds go she is the picture of peace and restfulness when not having a quick romp. Tsunami is quite easy going, walks well on a leash and has lived with indoor/outdoor cats, a pack of greyhounds, a beagle and a big woolly hound. She gets along with all of them but does not know why they won’t play with her. She would definitely like to play with the cats but she knows that is a big no-no. Her absolutely favorite thing would be to go to a home with a dog or dogs that would play with her. She may even learn to play fetch and tug-of-war with the right dog companion. Tsunami is still a bit timid about the world she has dropped into and at times is uncertain, but with gentle encouragement she moves past it.  At this point the foster home believes she is not a candidate to be an only dog.

FrostyFrosty -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Racing Name:
Emmetts Chain
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Light fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Frosty is a gentle giant, and we do mean GIANT. Weighing in at over 80 pounds (and he's still racing thin), he is a powerful dog. However, he has a gentle and quiet nature. He is pretty curious and investigates everything he can put his nose into. He trots through the house behind his greyhound sisters to see what they are up to. Frosty likes to be petted and brushed, but does not demand attention. He follows his foster mom from room to room and is content to lie down to wait for her next move. Frosty is an obedient walker on a leash and will go wherever he is led. He has mastered the dog door, the slippery kitchen floor and staircases. He will be a comforting friend to someone who loves big dogs.

DewpointDewpoint -- Adopted and living in West Los Angeles
Racing Name:
TLc Snip the wire
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Dewpoint is a very small male who is just as cute as a button. As a 2 ½ year old, he still has a few puppyish behaviors but nothing too terrible, just playing with the laundry and doing a few laps around the backyard. He LOVES children and teens, whining to be near them at social events, and delighting when they smother him with affection. He is a kisser and is affectionate to people of all ages. He has never lifted his leg in the house and has settled in with the dogs in the foster family quite easily, enticing the old greyhounds to play with him a bit, and enjoying the craziness of the miniature pinscher. He loves to go on walks. When he’s not playing, he is upside down on his back with his legs in the air, blissfully dozing and dreaming. Although he is fine with small dogs of all types, he is not opossum friendly and will certainly rid your yard of any extra furry critters.

BrookeBrooke -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles - Griffith Park
Racing Name:
Flying Brokaw
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Red fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Brooke is a very affectionate dog who loves her people. She follows her foster mom around the house long after the other dogs have taken up resting. She gets along with the two other greyhounds nicely. She has been very obedient after learning about the word no. She has learned to let us eat at the dining table without begging, and now just lies down nearby. She has learned to play with toys, particularly the squeaky ones. She is a friendly "greeter" when her humans or others arrive. She wants to be a part of the action. She is still a food lover, eating voraciously and hoping that her brother or sister will share with her after she finishes first. We have to watch her so that she doesn't nudge our doggies away from their food. She has mastered the dog door, stairs, and has had no accidents. She can be a bit mischievousness when food is involved, so it needs to be properly stowed. Her activity level has increased as she has gotten comfortable in her home and will need to be walked regularly.

FlurryFlurry -- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
Racing Name:
NS Brazen
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Red fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Flurry knows his track name, Brazen. He is a goofy, fun-loving male. He lives with another greyhound and an American Staffordshire Terrier and six cats. The cats keep him company. The little calico cat even cleans his head with her little tongue. He loves to follow his humans around; his favorite thing is to curl up in one of their laps or rest his head on the couch next to them so he can get his face and neck rubbed. He walks very well on a leash and looks forward to going on hikes in the local park. He is a smart boy--he was fully housebroken in two days. He is even getting the hang of sitting for treats, though it looks a bit more like he is lying down.

CheriCheri-- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Cheri is an adorable little lady with bright shiny eyes that melt your heart, perky ears, a warm smile, and a constantly wagging tail. Cheri quickly learned how to use the electric doggy door. She loves riding in the car. Although playful, she would rather romp with the other two greyhounds than toss those squeaky stuffed toys in the air. Cheri is also very courteous toward the two resident kitties. At the Meet and Greet, Cheri had no problem with small dogs and children, and enjoyed being admired, petted, and considered the star of the show. As a social butterfly, she considers it her duty to be where the action is--especially if it involves petting and cuddling. Cheri would probably enjoy a family with another dog to keep her company.

RomeoRomeo -- Adopted and living in Stevenson Ranch
Age: 5 Sex: M Color: Red fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Romeo is a sweet and beautiful fawn boy with an unbelievably soft coat. Although he will turn five next month, you would never know it by observing his spunky demeanor. Romeo is curious and excited by just about everything. After several years of track life, he is really enjoying exploring his foster home. Romeo is currently living with two other greyhounds and an Italian Greyhound. He loves to follow them around and try to entice them to play. He has even been known to try to clean their ears and faces with puppy kisses! Romeo is very happy to be near his humans, and likes to know where they are at all times. Romeo is very social and would do best either in a home where his humans can spend a good deal of time with him, or in a home with other dogs who don't mind interacting and playing with a new grey friend. His fun and whimsical demeanor coupled with his loving affection will make the perfect match for a family who looks forward to having fun with Romeo.

DocDoc -- Adopted and living in Stevenson Ranch
Racing Name:
Witch Doctor
Age: 9.5 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Witch Doctor, or "Doc," is an almost ten-year-old male from the warm island of Guam. Doc made the long trip to Los Angeles International Airport at the end of April, and is thoroughly enjoying his retirement in sunny California. Despite his senior age, Doc is full of smiles and spunk and loves to be active with his foster/adoptive family. Doc is living with two other greyhounds and an Italian Greyhound, and thrives on being part of the pack. His favorite time of the day is going for a nice walk with the whole crew. He also loves to play with his favorite squeaky toy. It was the first toy he "discovered" how to play with, and it hasn't left his side since. Doc has a gentle and affectionate spirit. He's always smiling and just wants to be loved to pieces by everyone. This special senior brings joy wherever he goes.

CaesarCaesar -- Adopted and living in Beaumont
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Caesar is a handsome and happy brindle boy and can be quite playful with his doggie housemates. He likes to "play-bow" and invites everyone to play with him. He can also be somewhat catlike--one of his favorite behaviors is to rub his face on his people or even the other dogs. Caesar is very respectful of barriers and will wait quietly outside a gate or the bathroom door for you to return. He is always happy to see his people again--he will greet you with a couple of barks and a wagging tail when you get home. He has learned well the "go to your bed command." He likes riding in the car, but he likes even better going for a walk. He is a good sport about getting his teeth cleaned, especially if you add some petting to the routine. Caesar currently lives with three greyhounds and a couple of rat terriers and is cool with the little dogs (but not with cats). He has lived with children, and does well with his foster parents' young granddaughter who often comes to visit. Caesar’s perfect home would be with another greyhound or dog as he definitely does not want to be left home without a buddy.

NicoNico -- Adopted and living in Rancho Cucamonga
Racing Name:
Nico's Revenge
Age: 5 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Nico is a perfect gentleman, walking wonderfully on a leash and giving attention to all that want it. He especially loves children. He is a well adjusted and confident dog that should be fine as an only dog, as long as he has some regular human interaction. He loves to play with toys, and loves to play with other dogs, small or large.  He was easy to train and seemed like he had already been in a home from the first day off the track. He will make a wonderful companion to most any situation from a young family to a retired couple.

LightningLightning -- Adopted and living in San Gabriel
Racing Name:
Lookin Lovely
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Lightning is a happy and playful girl with the prettiest face we have ever seen. She greets everyone with a wagging tail and a big comical smile that is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. In her new foster home she lives with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a Whippet and an Italian Greyhound. She loves to snuggle with kids of all ages. In fact, Lightning loves everyone. Her favorite thing is to ride in the car. We call her the official car dog. She can’t wait to shuttle the children to school and back daily and never has gotten car sick. Walking around the park would be a close second on her list of favorite things. She at first will pull at the leash in her excitement, but settles down nicely after a while. In the house, counter surfing is rarely a problem. She will, however, help herself to a portion of your plate at the dinner table if you are not watchful. She does wish to please most of all, and takes correction very well. What a sweetheart!

RainbowRainbow-- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Racing Name:
Rj's Peppy
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Rainbow is a beautiful dark brindle girl with a velvety coat and bald belly. She is friendly and easy to get along with, even among the mix of unusual-looking non-greyhounds she meets while out walking. In fact, when she first went on walks she was scared of small dogs but now she is getting used to them. She is shy around new people so she tries to keep her foster dad in sight at all times. She has learned how doors work. She still needs practice using stairs, maybe because she does so well on the building's elevator. At first she didn’t know how to play but she has started carrying her toys around the house and pouncing on them. Whenever Rainbow sees her dad or other people, she wags her tail just like a propeller. And if she really likes you, she will give you little love nips.

SnowflakeSnowflake -- Adopted and living in Tehachapi
Racing Name:
Words of Magic
Age: 7 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Sweet Snowflake, who knows her original name is Magic, is a very feminine, happy, affectionate girl who just loves life as a pet. She traveled a LONG way from Guam and it has taken her a long time to get the opportunity to be a pet. She spent six years of her life as a track dog and she knows that she has now arrived. She has spurts of puppy playfulness, and is even feminine in her play. She LOVES squeaky toys. She tosses them in the air and catches them and prances around in total delight. She always has three or four squeaky toys in her bed. Her biggest challenge has been learning to share the squeaky toys with the other greyhounds in her foster home. We are still working on this, and as hard as it is for her to watch another grey playing with a squeaky toy, her desire to please us and do as she is told wins out. Magic’s sensitive nature and desire to please make her easy to train and live with. She is a great joy to have in our home. She walks well on leash and rides well in the car. Magic will make a great companion for someone who wants to share affection, laugh at her silly antics in play, and have a loyal friend.

CloudyCloudy -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Racing Name:
Dollar for Dollar
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Light fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Cloudy is slowly coming out of his shell. He is sweet and very playful in a gentle way. Like any greyhound he enjoys a lot of lounging around on dog beds. He gets along great with other dogs small or big. He enjoys playing with toys and trots around the house with a toy in his mouth. He also loves playing with the other dogs. He walks great on a leash and is very gentle.

HondoHondo -- Adopted and living in Ventura
Racing Name:
Hondo Head
Age: 3 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

SunshineSunshine -- Adopted and living in Corona
Racing Name:
Blue Princess
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Chocolate
Small dog/cat tolerant: W/N

From the first day in our foster home, Sunshine has lived up to her name. She's happy, lively, highly affectionate, playful, and friendly towards everyone.  It's hard to believe that she's four years old; she seems more like a younger dog as she frisks with the other dogs and with toys. She gets along great with all the greys in our pack. She was a wonderful greyhound ambassador at a recent Meet & Greet, doing very well with several strange hounds in the x-pen and reveling in all the attention. The first evening she pounced on a dog toy, and has been fascinated with them ever since. Her whole body wiggles as she gives affection to anyone within reach. She distributes little kisses with abandon. She has slept through the night with no problems from the first day. She has almost learned "sit." She does not counter surf or chew the wrong thing, and she takes correction well. She is definitely not an "alpha" dog. Sunshine should not live with cats or small animals because she finds them a bit too interesting. She would really like to be with another dog. Sunshine is from the recently-closed greyhound track on Guam, and flew into LAX on March 27. She's on the small side for a female, but has basically the same temperament as American hounds.

SugarSugar -- Adopted and living in Lake Arrowhead
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Sugar is such a sweet little love! She has mastered sliding glass doors, going outside in the snow to go potty, and she now understands what a mirror is. Sugar loves being with her foster family of two Italian Greyhounds, one rather large inside cat, a big bird, and another greyhound. As soon as Sugar sees the doggie coats come out she gets so excited because she knows the family is going on a walk. She never pulls on the lead--she just enjoys all the scents and sights. When Sugar goes to bed, she enjoys being covered with a warm blanket and will tuck her face under the blanket. She sleeps all night now and knows when her meals are served. From the first day she was playing with toys and hiding them under her blanket. When Sugar is really happy, she wants you to rub her tiny belly. If you give her meat she will be your best friend for life!  When she comes to you or you to her, she gets so happy and excited that she pulls her lips back and smiles! It’s the cutest thing ever.

BransonBranson -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: White with brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: N/N

Branson is a very big, goofy, and gentle boy. He is 29 1/2 inches at the shoulder, and has a long body, too. He has a long nose and a very cute overbite. It took him a bit of time to realize that when you have a stretch body you can’t do a quick turnaround in the halls without hitting your nose. Branson is showing that he can be a perky two-year-old now that he is recovered from the lethargy of his track tick borne disease exposure. Branson likes his toys and everyone else’s too, and not shy about taking off with them in a friendly, playful way.  He loves to play with his greyhound friends and really likes to be petted by his humans. He is something of a "Velcro hound"--he would prefer to have his people around a lot or at least other hounds home with him when they are gone. Branson would probably not make a good only dog.

CairnsCairns -- Adopted and living in Beaumont
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: F Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: W/N

Cairns will steal your heart with her beautiful brindle coat, soft eyes, and cuddly attitude.  She enjoys lots of attention and will cuddle with you on the couch or bed whenever asked.  She loves to follow her people around whenever she is not sleeping.  Cairns walks well on a leash, and loves to say Hi to anyone she comes across.  She thinks that every house she passes should come stocked with people ready to praise and pet her.  She loves to play with her stuffed toys, carry them around the house, and toss them in the air.  She sometimes collects personal items from her foster family, but she does not destroy anything.  She just likes to collect them and save them on her bed until they are found.  Cairns gets along well with the other animals at her foster family home including a greyhound, chocolate Labrador, two Queensland healers and several chickens.   Cairns lives with a 10-year-old girl that she loves to be around to get lots of pets.  She is very patient with her foster sister and listens intently to her.  She rides well in a vehicle, and would sit in our laps while we drive if she could.  She has learned that sunbathing is a special perk you earn when you retired and tries to do it several times a day.  Cairns would do well in a house with other dogs, but will also probably do well with someone who is home quite a bit.  Most of all, Cairns is looking for a Forever Home that wants a truly lovable couch potato who has a fondness for walking, sunbathing, and hugs and cuddling.

MariahMariah -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles-Mt. Washington
Age
: 2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

What a sweetheart! Mariah loves attention and will cozy up to anyone. Although she is a bit interested in the movements of the cats, she is very obedient and responds well to our direction and the reaction of the cats.  She has become very comfortable in our house and not only likes to crawl into our laps, but has also been found sharing the couch with our grey. Mariah loves toys and is starting to get a bit animated in her play, hopping around as though she is in a pretend world. She also loves to empty the toy box and make sure she has played with everything! She has been left without human companionship for up to four hours but she has had our two greys to help her feel comfortable. She takes her cues from our dogs and might be a bit lost without them to keep her company.

He's fascinated by the squirrels and critters he meets, but he's content to continue with his walk. He tolerates well street noise, barking dogs, and other distractions. With his mature, balanced attitude, Angel will probably be a wonderful fit for most homes. His curiosity about his new life, together with his lovable nature, makes him a joy to have around.

EtnaEtna -- Adopted and living in Glendale
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: No/No

Etna is a playful, affectionate, and smart young greyhound. Her fawn color and "eyeliner" markings make her a striking dog. She has learned well the rules and way of her foster home. She gets along well with all of the other greyhounds in her foster pack. She has learned to sit on command. She loves to play with just about any toy she finds. She also enjoys playing with the other dogs. Etna's exuberance and love of life can get a bit over the top at times, but she wants to please her humans and takes correction very well. She enjoys road trips and rides well in the car. In public, she can be easily distracted by noise and movement around her. She is learning to control the excitement and anxiety thus generated. She did not test small dog or cat safe.

SundownerSundowner -- Adopted and living in Corona
Age
: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Sundowner is a beautiful red male with soft brown eyes. He is very gentle and really loves to be with his foster family. He is learning about toys and doggie treats. He especially likes the treats. Sundowner has a sweet, loving personality and is extremely affectionate to all. He can be quite exuberant when his people come home from work. Once they sit down, he would like to creep up into their laps if they would let them. During the day he is happy to play or hang out with the other two greyhounds in his foster home and follows them around like a shadow. He is continuing to learn about the dog door and other household manners, like keeping off the counters. He has a sweet and loving personality that you will fall in love with. Since he is not really happy without other dogs around, Sundowner's perfect home would be one with another dog that will keep him company when his people are gone. He might be fine as an only dog if his people were home quite a bit.

GaleGale -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Age
: 2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant:Y/W

Gale is a very sweet, red girl with exotic Egyptian-style eyeliner and beautiful, amber eyes. She has a very loving personality and wants to be with her foster pack all the time. She lives with a Field Labrador and another greyhound. She is doing very well with house training and has learned to tell her foster mom when she needs to go outside. She has also mastered the stairs and is getting the hang of the wooden floors. She is learning to wait patiently with the pack for her meals to be served. She doesn't even mind having her teeth brushed before bed. She is discovering toys and loves to invite the other dogs to play with her. She enjoys her walks and is very well behaved on the leash; she's friendly with everyone she meets, including small children, and is curious about the dogs she meets. She takes corrections easily and she frequently looks to her foster mom for guidance when she's unsure. She is affectionate and loves to have her head rubbed and her neck scratched. She also wags her tail exuberantly and does little hops when she's really happy. Her perfect home would be with another medium to large dog that will play with her and keep her company.

DarlingDarling -- Adopted and living in West Hollywood
Age: 4 3/4 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Darling is polite and refined. She has never made a single mistake! She uses the doggie door, walks nicely on the leash, rides well in cars, and loves her doggie roommates. She lives with a Ridgeback, a small whippet, and an even smaller Italian Greyhound. Children just love her and say that she looks like Black Beauty. She loves to be petted and responds by loving you right back. What words would describe Darling best? They would be gentle, devoted, easy to get along with, and elegant. Darling would fit quite nicely into any home that would love her as much as she would them. Darling is just the sweetest dog her foster mom has ever met, and she would keep her if she could.

ZephyrZephyr -- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
Age
: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Zephyr came off the track from a winning career in Arizona. He was a favorite in his racing kennel, so he's definitely used to attention and adoration. As a matter of fact, if he feels the attention is waning, he will stand in front of you and "woo-woo" for petting or treats. He is very much a vocal dog--he likes to woo hello to anyone passing by the yard. He also woos if the food isn't going in to the bowls quickly enough. And the walks are definitely to his liking. He and his foster pack of two greys and an English Shepherd walk four miles daily. He thinks this is the best thing ever and has even learned to jump into the car so we can get going more quickly. He has been meeting all kinds of dogs and folks and is completely unfazed by anything. He has also developed a fascination for the gopher holes in the park and is hoping to catch a varmint some day soon. Zephyr's other roommates are four cats. He has shown some interest in them, but responds to correction and breaks off immediately. His interaction with small animals in his new home will need to be monitored at first, but basically he shows strong curiosity, not aggression. Since Zephyr is very confident, he may do well as an only dog. But he is definitely people oriented, so if he's an only dog it would probably be best to have a human who wasn't gone much or who could take him to the workplace. He is also very active and curious, so he is definitely not for a quiet household. He'd love to train for a marathon!

BeauBeau -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Age: 3 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Beau is a small, elegant, black male with a rather fancy curly-cue tail. He is a calm and easy going boy that just loves to be close to his people. He loves going in the car and going for long walks. He is endlessly patient with the other dogs in the house, especially with the small miniature pinscher. He is comfortable being at the bottom of the pack and should fit well into any household. He would probably do well with another dog in the home, since he can be a bit timid in new situations and relies on the other dogs for cues on how to react. His tail wags in a helicopter manner whenever we get home because he is so happy to see us again. Beau has perfect manners, doesn't jump up on counters or people, and is overall a true gentleman.

SweetheartSweetheart -- Adopted and living in Pasadena
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Sweetheart is a petite grey girl with big ears, and a loving personality. She is cute, playful and quite unique in her efforts to get the other greyhounds to play with her. She is a bit of an imp. She does a little tap dance (one foot at a time) with tail up and whole body gyrating. She knows she is cute and has two favorite poses: the greyhound hug and a very regal sphinx pose. She has a somewhat forward personality around the other dogs, but they don't take offense and just ignore her silly behavior. She adjusted to life off the track very quickly, perhaps because she was somewhat of a pet at the track. She has wormed her way into the hearts of both the people and the dogs in her foster home.

ValentineValentine -- Adopted and living in Lake Balboa
Age: 3 3/4 Sex: M Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Valentine is a big, very sweet boy! He did a lot of pacing the first few days but has now figured out that pet beds and even carpeting are good things. He has picked up a couple of toys and carried them around the room, but has not quite figured out how to play yet. Valentine pretty much ignores the other greys in our house but will stick like glue to a human, especially a male human. He is doing well when left alone for short periods of time (up to three hours) but a long day alone, especially if there are no other dogs in the house would not be good. His ears perk up when a cat runs through the room but simply saying his name will break his glare. Val loves food time and visits the kitchen often, just hoping we have left him something. He loves walks, greeting people, having his ears rubbed, and laying his head in our arms. Meet & Greets mean more hands to pet him and other interesting dogs to meet.

HoneyHoney -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Age: 4 1/2 Sex F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Honey is on the small size, but is big on personality. When her humans return home from work, they see her and the other greyhound in the house looking out the window to greet them and then running to the door with tails in overdrive. She has mastered all the obstacles of living in a home. She is dog-door trained, and has never had an accident in the house. Like a typical greyhound she loves rides in the car without getting sick. She walks well on leash, and this seems to be her favorite activity next to long naps on a bed close to her humans. She shows no interest in sleeping on the furniture or counter surfing. She has some interest in human food, but goes away when told no. She is a very easy dog to correct. She's not big on playing with toys, but she loves to pull them out of the basket and take them one at a time to her bed. She gets along well with the other two dogs in the house,  but likes her own space. She would probably make a good only dog if her humans are not gone all day.

CarrowayCaraway -- Adopted and living in Simi Valley
Age: 3 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Caraway is a dear and somewhat small greyhound boy who came off the track in October with a broken rear leg. His leg now has healed but he still walks with a limp and may for some time. Caraway is a complete sweetheart, very friendly. He's easy to get along with and never complains. So much so that he is the orthopedic vet’s pick as "Patient of the Year." Also Caraway does things that most greyhounds won’t do. For one, he will sleep with other greyhounds and even once tried to cuddle up with the beagle in his foster home. He loves to share his bed and will even share his crate with other dogs. He loves everyone he meets and enjoys being petted by them all. However, since his recovery he has developed a keen sense of "alertness" for small furry critters. Though he is very much on alert when he walks on a leash he is a good canine citizen and takes correction very well. Caraway would really love a home where he can roam around in the yard and keep it safe from small furry critters and also go on long walks where he can view his world. Caraway is a sighthounds' sighthound!

JamaicaJamaica -- Adopted and living in Fontana
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: White with red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Jamaica is a petite, sweet girl, who will absorb all the love and affection you can dish out. She easily mastered slippery kitchen floors and staircases. She faithfully uses the dog door. And when out walking with other greyhounds, she quietly and obediently joins the group. When walking without other dogs, she is a bit more nervous. Jamaica will quietly come up and look a person in the face. If she gets petted or hugged, she is overjoyed. She was once picked up and put on someone’s lap. Apparently she liked it and now tries to crawl onto any willing lap—where she almost fits -- but not quite. She has started to play with toys, but she tends to gather them and move them from place to place rather than actually play with them. While on the track Jamaica sustained an injury to one of her eyes and is permanently blind in that eye. However, she is so sweet and good natured that it is quickly forgotten by everyone, including her, as she maneuvers around her world just like any other dog. Jamaica is looking for a home that will give her lots of attention (and toys), for which she will reward her Forever Home many times over.

PreciousPrecious -- Adopted and living in Lancaster
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Precious lives with three rabbits, two cats, a tortoise, and a shepherd mix named Bonnie. She ignores the cats, rabbits and tortoise but likes her Shepherd sister. Her favorite activity is sleeping on a soft bed as she loves to curl up tightly and be warm.  Although Precious would rather her foster family didn't go to work, she and Bonnie keep each other company and she has adjusted well to her people's absence. She is calm, polite, friendly, and has an excellent appetite. In general, she is a pretty laid back lady.  Bonnie is teaching her to bark when someone comes to the door and trying really hard to get her to play with toys. While Precious enjoys sleeping with a cuddly toy, she isn't yet interested in playing with them--much to Bonnie's disappointment! When Precious wants attention, she will lay her head on her foster mom’s lap and patiently wait for her petting session to begin. She should be able to adjust to life as an only hound if she gets to spend lots of time with her people.

CancunCancun -- Adopted and living in Montebello
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Cancun is a real sweetheart; a small, outgoing, and curious little girl who loves contact from both men and women. She is happiest when she is near one of her human friends. In fact she will follow them from room to room, laying as near to them as possible. She gets along well with her foster brother and sister but doesn’t need to be around them all the time. She will stand up for herself by quietly warning them when they intrude upon her space. She is a very confident girl, not a bit shy and not scared easily. She mastered the hardwood floors quickly and does not mind sliding around at times. She is very anxious to please and responds well to a quiet "no." She is sensitive to a scolding but doesn’t sulk. She learns very quickly, having mastered both the doggie door and the stairs within the first day. She learned where to go to the bathroom within a couple of days. She has learned to wait patiently for her turn at mealtime and is not food aggressive. She is working hard on learning not to counter surf. She acts hungry most of the time but is learning that she can’t get food off the counters in the house or from the other dogs. She is also learning to differentiate between the objects that are her toys and those that belong to mom and dad so shouldn’t be played with. She is a good walker on lead and has the potential to be a watchdog.

TuscanyTuscany -- Adopted and living in Santa Clarita
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Dark red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Tuscany is a big, friendly handsome boy. He loves to play with squeaky toys and would love to play with other dogs. His foster siblings are not into playing, but he enjoys playing ball with his foster mom. He does fetch the ball and is learning to "leave it" at mom's feet or in her hand. If you want a no-nonsense walking companion, this dog is for you. He has not marked or sniffed on anything while walking. He just wants to keep walking. He lives with cats and is fine with them. He probably would prefer to live with another playful dog. He rides well in the car and sometimes thinks he needs a boost to get in, maybe trying to make his foster mom feel needed.

SydneySydney -- Adopted and living in Phoenix
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: White/ black ticking
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Sydney is an adorable and typical boy greyhound. Except for some morning puppy energy, his usual laid-back attitude is interrupted only by food and squeaky toys. From the moment he discovered those little stuffed things, he just had to have one in his mouth. He carries them around the house with pride. He mastered the dog door quickly by following his foster pack outside the first day he arrived. After a couple of reminders he remembered that potty was done outside and has remembered ever since. He has such a sweetness about him that everyone who meets him is attracted to him. He has been a little nervous at times and would love it if he could go to a home where he could have brother or sister dogs. He just doesn't like being alone. He does not need to be in charge; in fact, he would prefer it if someone else takes the lead. In his foster home, his brother and sister cats show him who is boss. He respects what they say and stays out of their way. Sydney is a cutie. He loves anyone who will stop and give him a back rub or a tummy rub. He will enjoy every moment in his forever home with his forever family.

MagnoliaMagnolia -- Adopted and living in Garden Grove
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black with brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Magnolia is a good-looking black and dark brindle girl who broke her leg on the track but is almost ready to find her Forever Home. She is very sweet and lovable, and could be petted all day long. She is one of those greys that will wedge between the other greys when she thinks it is her turn for a caress. She lives with several greyhounds and a beagle and likes them for company but likes her people best. She has a built-in clock and knows when it is walk time, which is probably because she could not go walking for several months. She is most active in the morning and likes to play with her toys, take a walk and then nap until the next walk. She is an easy-going and patient girl.

AcaciaAcacia -- Adopted and living in Hermosa Beach
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Acacia is a sweet, quiet beauty. She is recovering from a broken leg and just had her cast removed. Now that it is off she will be able to go for walks with her foster siblings and learn the fine art of leash walking. Having gone on many long rides to have her leg checked out by the Orange County vet, she has learned to ride well in the car. She just settles down right away and enjoys the ride. She is very cat tolerant and gets along with two greys and the medium-sized dog she lives with. She doesn't need other dogs in the home to be happy, but she does needs her humans to be home a lot. Since she is a quiet dog, if she were to go to a family with children she would prefer they be a bit older and quiet like her.

OdessaOdessa -- Adopted and living in Rancho Mirage
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: F Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Odessa shows great warmth and likes to be around our other four greyhounds. She has yet to pick up a toy but she has adopted the couch. She learned the stairs very quickly and zooms up and down easily. She is quite the lady. She loves to slowly put her paws in your lap to get closer to you for extra lovin'. Odessa is awesome in the car--no car sickness or anxiety. She lays right down and enjoys the ride.

StanfordStanford -- Adopted and living in Valencia
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Stanford is a handsome but somewhat shy guy. He sports markings that are a gorgeous, soft brindle color. While he seems a little overwhelmed by his new retired life, he is definitely getting the hang of it. He has a playful side, where he zips back and forth and invites you to join him in a game of tag. At first he wasn't quite sure what to do with his stuffies, but has decided they are really good to carry around while he explores the yard. He is inquisitive about everything, and barked at his reflection in the oven door the first couple of days. Buddy, his Dalmatian friend, has been showing him the ropes, so he has impeccable bathroom habits. Buddy has also shown him that those big comfy round things are perfect for naps and power lounging. Eating is another favorite pastime for Stanford, though right now he prefers to eat with a little privacy. He hasn't shown any food aggression When it comes to getting a snack or dog cookie, he is gentle, though he likes to be first. Another one of Stanford's favorite things is going for a walk. He is very well behaved on the leash. He knows to keep stride with you and walk right next to your left side. When he sees other dogs out on a walk they briefly get his attention. He enjoys just hanging out in the living room with his human. He negotiates the hardwood floors fairly well most of the time. Loud or unexpected things can startle him, but he doesn't seem to be bothered by the vacuum. When bedtime rolls around, he is content to sleep near his foster mom and Buddy, but sometimes tries to talk Buddy out of his favorite spot should Buddy get to it first.

VirginiaVirginia -- Adopted and living in Laguna Niguel
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Virginia, or Ginny, is a long-legged white and brindle girl. She had over 200 races in her career. Ginny is one of the broken-leg dogs, so now she can take it easy and cozy up to a new family when she is well enough to be adopted. She lives with numerous cats in her foster home and gets along well with them and the greyhound (Mindy) and Dalmatian.

When  another dog or cat occupies a bed she wants, she paces and whines until they either vacate or her foster mom intervenes and shoos out the interlopers. After all, a dog with a long racing career and a broken leg deserves to have her favorite bed.

RushmoreRushmore -- Adopted and living in Colton
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Rushmore is adorable! This little guy is happy, curious, and he just wags his tail at every one. Rushmore is very bright and a quick learner. He learned to use the doggy door in one day. When his foster mom showed him the "going outside" part he got it almost immediately and spent the next half hour practicing. That is, he went out for a minute and then back in for five, peeked out the flap, went out . . . it was just too cute! He figured out the coming back into the house part all by himself. Rushmore likes to entice his two foster brother greyhounds to play. He figured out dog toys quickly and he thinks they're great fun. In fact, abandoned socks on the floor become something to carry around and toss in the air. At Petsmart, Rushmore greeted people of all sizes with equal enthusiasm. Children were a curiosity to him. With tail wagging he went to say hello as if he knew children would love him. Small dogs or cats are too fragile for Rushmore to play with, however. He should not live with them. This is a great little boy who is waiting for the family who will love him forever.

SingaporeSingapore -- Adopted and living in West Hollywood
Age: 3 Sex: M Color: White with brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/W

Singapore is a mellow white and brindle guy. He was shy at first, and is still very skittish when going for a walk after dark, but he's really opening up. He tries to say hi to almost everyone, and he is quite friendly with dogs of all sizes when on a leash (and maybe when off too, but we don't know that). He's not so good with cats, and crying children put him on edge. Singapore seems to have good taste in furniture. At least he seems to think the coffee table tastes good. His foster mom can't get him interested in any chew toys, but he sure loved the remote! He tried to make up for it with kisses (and it worked). Singapore still needs to learn to play, but for now he sure likes having his teddy bear around.

CapriCapri-- Adopted and living in Riverside
Age: 5 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Capri is a sweet, petite little girl who fits in nicely with our two greyhounds, our old lab and the cat. She doesn’t pay much attention to the cat normally, but if he runs away she wants to see where he went. Capri is housebroken and will stand at the door to go out or follow the others outside when they go. She is learning the joys of squeaky toys and likes to carry one around in the morning when it’s time for breakfast. She loves to go for walks and is great on a leash. She looks at other dogs but doesn’t seem too interested in them. She is very affectionate and comes when called. She definitely likes to be near her people and follows mom everywhere as soon as mom gets home from work. She has no problem bounding up and down the stairs. She would be very happy sleeping near her people. Capri is especially happy in the morning when we come down stairs, jumping and spinning. She gets along well with the two greyhounds but doesn’t necessarily have to be around them all the time. We feel she could be an only dog as long as her people are home quite a bit of the time.

MontrealMontreal -- Adopted and living in Altadena
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Montreal is a mature, smart, and well-mannered grey. He completed house training without a problem and in record time, and has settled into our condo routine. He gets along with his two greyhound housemates--the bossy female and the spoiled male do not phase him. He loves walks and gratefully accepts attention from all who greet him. Street noise and barking dogs are no problem for him. He is fascinated with squirrels and critters, but continues with his walk. As of now, he probably should not live with cats or small dogs. People are his true love, especially the ladies. He is working on navigating marble steps, but carpeted steps are not a problem for him. If his people could give him a brief support period, he might be able to be an only dog. He is fun to work with, quick to learn, and would oh so love to have some wonderful people of his own and perhaps a small yard!

NantucketNantucket -- Adopted and living in Alta Loma
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: White with red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Nantucket is a big, beautiful and friendly boy who is still quite young. He came off the track a bit lethargic but has gained some weight, found his youthful self, and now loves his toys to the fullest extent possible. His foster home has three greyhounds and a couple of rat terriers. He gets along with everyone, including his foster parent’s granddaughter. He quickly learned the "go to your bed" command. He likes riding in the car, but he likes even better going for a walk. His perfect home would be with another greyhound or two that will play with him.

ArubaAruba -- Adopted and living in Glendale
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: W/N

Aruba is a sweet, quiet, and loving little girl that we think would be perfect as an only dog. She quickly learned the joys of a dog bed and loves hers so much that she needs encouragement to leave it. Aruba loves hugs, kisses and having her belly rubbed. She enjoys going on walks and is very calm when she sees other animals. She would rather be with her foster family than pay attention to other animals on the walk. Aruba adapted to home life easily. She has made friends with the greyhound, Chocolate Labrador, cattle dogs, and chickens that make up her foster home. Aruba likes chewing on her stuffies and hearing them squeak. She has not had any accidents in the house and is learning how to use the dog door. She willingly goes on rides in the truck and prefers to be in the front with her foster mom. Aruba loves kids (10 and up) and is currently living with a 10-year-old girl.

DukeDuke -- Adopted and living in Coto de Caza
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Duke is a big, sweet, lovable boy. His four white feet and long, white-tipped tail make him a striking dog. He loves his toys and playtime. He tested cat tolerant, but does not currently live with cats. He's been fine with the neighborhood children and dogs. Chewing on his Nylabone is fun, but his daily rawhide strip is just heaven. He sleeps quietly through the night. Mirrors still interest him a bit, but he has adapted well to the stairs and hard floors in his new environment. New situations, noises, and sights can at times make him a little nervous or unsure, and he will look to you for guidance. Once comfortable, however, he turns into his normal gregarious self. He will love to lean on you or place his head in your lap for a good scratch. Duke is good on his leash and loves to walk. He will walk beside you if you like, but also enjoys ranging a bit to take in the smells. He would also enjoy a faster-paced power walk or some hiking. He will probably be happiest with a little higher level of exercise than the average greyhound. A more active household shouldn't bother him at all. Don't let his salty face fool you. He's still got a bit of puppy left in him. After you get to know him and can look a little deeper, you'll find a gentle, sensitive soul.

NiagaraNiagara -- Adopted and living in West Hills
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Niagara was very timid and uneasy when she first came to us. She has made great progress but may always remain a bit timid and hesitant. She seems to get some security and confidence by placing herself between our two greys. It took her almost two weeks to take food from our hands. Now she will almost come within reach to be petted. Niagara has discovered stuffed toys and will toss them around and run and dive at the toys until she exhausts herself and plops down on a pet bed. She has never had an accident in the house and from her first day here has slept all night. Behind the safety of an x-pen at our Meet & Greets she will let adults and children pet her, even laying down right in front where she can be reached. She does not pay any attention to our cats and they feel very secure around her. She is comfortable around any breed of dog she has met, large or small.

AnnAnn Arbor -- Adopted and living in Calabasas
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

If you are looking for a dog that likes to be your shadow, this very out-going girl may be for you. She has not meet a human of any age she did not like. She is gentle and well mannered, and has settled well into the foster home she shares with two humans, another greyhound, and an older cattle dog. All the dogs love to run and play together. She is easily correctable, does not counter surf, and loves to please mom and dad. She loves to go on long morning walks and enjoy all the sights and smells in her new world. She walks well on leash. When the car door opens her tail goes into overdrive, but once on the road she lays down quickly. In the house she has mastered the dog door and tile floors. She also has found a special dog friend in the mirror whom she has conversations with from time to time. Toys are fun and she loves to walk around and show them off in hopes the other greyhound will let her lay down in the same bed. She does not live with a cat now, but she may do well in a home with one after some work.

RivieraRiviera-- Adopted and living in Altadena
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Riviera is a sweet and beautiful dark brindle girl. After running 221 races, she is ready to relax in her forever home. Although she can be a bit anxious at first, once she learns the routine and gets to know you, she is an affectionate and loving companion. She is really coming out of her shell and loves learning to play with squeaky toys. In her foster home, Riviera is living with two greyhounds and a small Italian Greyhound. Although she gets along well with the other dogs, she can sometimes be aggressive or bossy when it comes to sharing toys, food, beds or treats. Riviera would do extremely well as an only dog, as she really loves to be where the people are! She follows her foster parents everywhere and wants to be near them constantly. She loves to be petted and cuddled, and is ready to be a part of her forever family.

BavariaBavaria -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Bavaria has evolved into a nearly perfect dog over the past few weeks. She was a little anxious when she came to us.The first night she learned the doggie door and has never had an accident. She loves all people, men, women, and children. She sleeps with our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Whippet and Italian Greyhound. She is extremely smart and wants to learn and please. She listens carefully, follows direction, and comes when she is called. When we are out walking on the leash she is friendly to all of the dogs she meets. In the backyard she exhibits a lot of energy and is playful like a big puppy. Luckily we have many available stuffies and bones. She walks on lead beautifully. She will live happily either alone or with other dogs once she makes her place in the pack. She seems to have good instincts and much wisdom. She will be someone’s best friend.

VailVail -- Adopted and living in Irvine
Age: 4 Sex: M Color: Black/white ticking
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/N

Vail is an outgoing and friendly boy. His tail is always wagging when kids or adults approach him. He loves to play with his toys, but his favorite activities by far are going on walks and going for a ride in the car. He is well-behaved for his all of his regular three-mile walk. He enjoys the other dogs' company, but doesn’t seem to require it as much as do other greyhounds. So he could possibly work well as an only dog. He ignores the small dog that tries to torment him in his foster home.

VassarVassar -- Adopted and living in Hawthorne
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

Vassar is the sweetest, most delicate little girl, and bright to boot. Within her first week she has learned where to go to the bathroom, and to use the dog door to do it. She is always very excited when people come over and is the first to greet them at the door. She is equally excited to go for walks, but for the first few minutes needs to be reminded who is walking whom. She does not pay much attention to other animals at all, and hasn’t stopped once while walking past the neighbor’s cats. She has fun moving small items left on the floor to her bed, and tossing them around for fun, so she has trained us to remember to keep those things out of her reach (which is higher than you might think). We are having fun discovering the wonderful life that lies ahead of her and she is learning to trust humans.

CarolinaCarolina -- Adopted and living in Altadena
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: White and black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/W

This affectionate little girl will wiggle her way into your heart. At only 51 pounds, she is a real "pocket-sized" hound. She has some puppyish habits like taking the TV remote to the back yard, and playing with anything she can get her mouth on. She is a smiler and can be a bit timid at first, but is very fun once she gets to know you. She is definitely a snuggler and would love to be invited up on the furniture (but we don’t allow this at this foster home). She loves going for walks and gets along with all dogs, large and small.

CornellCornell -- Adopted and living in Torrance
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: White and brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/W

Cornell is a beautiful girl that is loving and quietly friendly to everyone she meets. She snuggles with the other dogs and loves to play with stuffies in the backyard. She is good with children and small dogs. Within a week she learned to use the doggie door. Long walks in the park are her favorite activity. She pulls on the lead at first before settling down and walking nicely. When we are out for a walk everyone is curious about her because her markings are so attractive. In the house she is very polite, but we put up the remote controls to avoid any problems.

PrincetonPrinceton -- Adopted and living in Fontana
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red
Small dog/cat tolerant: Y/Y

As one would expect from an Ivy League dog, Princeton is smart and self-reliant. Within hours of coming home he understood the dog door and the restroom policy. He is affectionate and loves to have his head rubbed and his back scratched, but watch out for his wagging whip of a tail. He waits quietly while others are dining, and when you are finished, he moves in to clean the plates. He seems very conscious of the proverb "waste not, want not." While he would love to jump up on the bed, he hasn't received an invitation.
